Created by local agency One Black Bear, the campaign highlights the stark reality that while homelessness continues year-round, public support often drops during the summer. This seasonal dip makes it harder for SIFA Fireside to deliver vital services at its support centre in Digbeth, from hot meals and health clinics to housing advice and financial support.
There are many meaningful ways for corporates to get involved and make a difference to Birmingham’s most vulnerable people. Support could include financial donations, volunteering time or skills, sharing the campaign within networks, or offering goods and services.
Melissa Roche, head of fundraising, volunteering and communications at SIFA Fireside, said: “Our summertime dip in donations is an issue we experience every year. This ingenious pro-bono work One Black Bear created for us will really help us in our efforts to plug this gap.”
Andy Crotty, co-founder of OTD, said: "We’ve supported SIFA Fireside for many years because its work genuinely changes lives. This summer, we’re proud to back this important campaign and encourage other businesses to get involved. Homelessness isn’t seasonal and support for organisations like SIFA shouldn’t be either."
For the price of a poolside cocktail, individuals can play their part in addressing homelessness in Birmingham and ensuring that support is available year-round.
